Here's some tips about this website. Tip one about this page, DO NOT BE FOOLED, compare with other reliable sites before confirming this is actually true. Tip two about this page, ITS MOSTLY ABOUT BOEING PLANES, I am not nearly as facinated with Airbus as i am with Boeing.
There are hundreds of types of airplanes in the world, many, like the Concord, have been grounded, meaning that they are no longer allowed to fly. Planes were first used majorly in fighting in World War I, the Red Barron was alive around then, he was a very skilled German pilot (I think). In World War II, the first squadron of all black people was created, the Tuskigi (check my spelling please) Airmen (I wouldn't trust that thats right either). Early airplanes were prop, or propeller, planes. This means that they had propellers to provide the thrust. Now most airplanes are jet planes (as seen above), most airplanes these days are jet planes because they are faster and can fly at higher altitudes than that of a prop plane. Prop planes are still used though, some stunt planes are prop planes, also, if you arnt flying very far, normaly prop planes are used.

Boeing is one of the top two airplane construction companys, the other is Airbus. Boing startes the 700 series with the 707, it was a moderate sized jet airplane with two engines on each wing (total 4 engines). It was a very good airplane but they can no longer be found in the sky anymore. After the 707 came the 717, a twin engiened aircraftwith the engines on the back of the body of the plane. This design led to the design of the 727, which was a slightly larger aircraft with a simmiar design.

After the 727, Boeing came out with one of their most popular aircrafts, the 737. Southwest airlines, the most popular airline, only flys 737s, causing Boeing to make millions off of one type of airplane. After the 737s sucess, Boeing made an airplane that took the title of the largest airplane ar the time. The 747 is one of Boeings top selling airplanes. They now have a 747 running on biofuel, and annother type called the 747 intercontinental, and even converted some into freight planes. The 747 had two decks in the front of the plane but in the back it was a single deck, creating the appearence of a lump in the front. After the 747 came the 757 (obviously), the 757 is a mid-sized airplane slightly larger than the 737. It is now also one of Boings top selling aircrafts. The 757 is used mostly for flights within a large country, like the United States. It is used for shorter distance flights, like from San Francisco to Hawaii or Kansas City.

The 767 came a few years after the 757 and was an aircraft with a wider body, like the 747. Today, some of these aircrafts are freighters, but they are still used in passenger service. The 767 preceded the 777, another wide body aircraft that is used a lot for cross-country flights and to and from islands. The 777 is basicly a larger version of the 737, with more seats, a longer range, and its more advanced. After the 777, Boeing started working on two planes, the next geeration 737 and the 787. But before that Airbus decided to knock the 747 off the record for largest airplane. Airbus, in 2005, came out with the A380, the largest working commercial airliner in the world. The A380 had a double deck all the way down the body and is one of two majorly used aircraft to go overseas. The A380 has a seat arrangement of 3-3-3, with two isle ways.

The first 787 was sold to ANA airlines in Japan in the summer of 2011, almost three years after it was due to be sold. The 787 Dreamliner still lives up to what its thought to be able to do. The aircraft is made of a carbon fiber alloy that is extremely light. The plane's wings bend to reduse turbulence enouch that you can put a flower pot in there and it wont break. Also, it has automatic tinting windows, a wide body, and changing lights to reduse jet lag. Boeing is now working with the 787 to deliver the 100s of orders that have yet to be fufiled and the next generation 737.
